Graduation and a New Job

February 14, 2012

Before leaving home for graduation rites!

The day was February 4, 2012 – the day I finally graduated from college!

But I’m far from fulfilling that dream of traveling around the world. Before I get that dream, I need to at least use what I’ve learned for the past 17 years.

I know there are loads of people out there who would encourage young people to start traveling young before it’s too late, but there are still limitations. The real world can be really harsh. Some have experienced the harshness of reality quite early, while others only see it when they start working.

I’ve decided to start building funds – for traveling and for my future – by working in an IT related company here in Manila. I actually started training before I even graduated (officially)! It’s proving to be quite a different world from what I’ve actually lived through in college and I’m sure it would continue to surprise me as I stay and meet more people.

Aside from working full time in the office, eight hours a day, five days a week, I’ve also opened up the option of accepting part-time work from friends who need a developer. I’m not as good as those hardcore programmers out there but it’s a job worth venturing on.

I’m still adjusting to the work life environment – which is also why there have been a lack of posts in the past week. Not much traveling or adventure-ing happening yet but I promise, there’ll be one soon.

What did you do when you finished school?
